Excellent Plating Uniformity
Without the influence of an electric field, substrates with complex shapes (such as deep holes, grooves, and inner walls of pipes) can achieve uniformly thick plating (deviation ≤5%), which is superior to electroplated nickel (which relies on electric field distribution and is prone to "edge effects").
Strong Corrosion Resistance
The nickel-phosphorus alloy coating is a dense amorphous (high-phosphorus coating) or microcrystalline structure, which effectively isolates the substrate from the corrosive medium. For example, high-phosphorus coatings have a corrosion rate in 3.5% NaCl solution that is only 1/10th of electroplated nickel.
Hardness and Wear Resistance
The as-plated hardness is 300-500 HV (medium phosphorus), which can reach 800-1100 HV (close to hard chrome) after heat treatment, offering superior wear resistance compared to electroplated nickel. It is especially suitable for sliding friction components.
Good Adhesion
The adhesion to metals (such as steel, aluminum, copper, etc.), ceramics, and plastics (after activation treatment) is strong (typically >50 MPa), with no peeling.
Wide Range of Applicable Substrates
No external power is required, making it suitable for surface metallization of non-metal substrates (such as plastics, ceramics). Only a conductive layer needs to be pre-plated and activated.
